1:00-1:30 : Sharing from the group:
  • Share any ideas from our last session that you have developed, implemented, and explored with your students.

1:30-2:30: Your turn to work, discuss and plan: Mathematical story telling in three acts.

Act 1 - Provoke Questions, theirs not yours the intro video.
What did you notice? What did you wonder?
Act 2 - The Main Feature narrow down the questions and find solutions …
Act 3 - What’s the Sequel? Ex. What happens if I double the height vs.
doubling the radius

2:30-2:15: Break

2:15-3:10: Sharing with the large group:
  • Come back to share at least one deconstructed problem, having 3 acts.
  • Setting up our co-created “rule of thumb” list - that will guide us in our planning for future instructional moves. Create a Google Doc for group generated responses.
  • Summarize our thinking about our current pedagogy and how we may adjust to engage more learners.
  • Share various ways Discovery Education video content can be used for teaching math and shared across the division.
